Costa Rica

Costa Rica lies in the middle of Central America. The „Cordillera” in its center is a rugged mountain range, a chain of volcanic cones, some of which are still active. The Caribbean lowlands in the NE are predominantly covered by tropical rainforest. The capital San José lies in the Valle Central („Meseta”) between the Cordilera Central and the Cordilera de Talamanca. Costa Rica’s national parks, nature & biological reserves make up over 20% of the country’s land area, such as mostly untouched tropical rainforests, oak forests in the Meseta, mangrove swamps, and pampa with a wide variety of animals and plants.
